I take great pleasure in exhibiting photographs taken by me, Carl Bruce IV, throughout my travels cross-country and during my residence in both California and Virginia. Although much of my professional work centers around architectural and portrait photography, I am most enthusiastic photographing landscapes that display the natural architecture of towering mountains, water carved canyons, and soaring trees.
I made my start as a photographer in California where I pursued my interest in photography academically and professionally. As an employee of
Ag Photography, the premier architectural photographer in Los Angeles, I worked directly with Anthony Gomez on prospective and proper lighting of building exteriors and interiors for photographing. I delved into the field of wedding photography, and developed an ability to capture both the subjects of the day and the story unfolding throughout the day.
After years of applying myself as an architectural and wedding photographer, I packed up my camera and journeyed throughout the United States for 2 years in order to capture grand landscapes such as Yosemite Valley. Its is during these years that much of the photographs in ‘Artist Favorites’ were taken, and it is also during these years that I learned to manipulate the early morning glow from the sun peaking over the horizon or the last light of a setting sun to achieve a perfect blue that is key to many of my photographs.
Now in Virginia, I work towards applying my broad skills to commercial realms of photography. I have developed a partnership
with StealthINK design a graphics art firm specializing in …, in order to provide potential customers with both graphics and photographic needs. I am proficient in 360 photographs, and shoot for the Washington Post’s Apartment Showcase. I continue my architectural photography work with customers that include Redfin Corporation and believe strong visual images are the most effective tool when trying to sell a house, attract customers to a restaurant or store, or depict a business as successful.
